Most children can benefit from two full years under the scheme.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"573\" data-end=\"769\">The ECCE programme helps children learn through play, build confidence, and get ready for the next step in their education \u2013 all in a safe and fun environment with qualified early years educators.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"771\" data-end=\"797\"><strong data-start=\"771\" data-end=\"797\">What you need to know:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"798\" data-end=\"965\">\n<li data-start=\"798\" data-end=\"850\">\n<p data-start=\"800\" data-end=\"850\">It\u2019s completely free \u2013 no fees for ECCE hours.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"851\" data-end=\"903\">\n<p data-start=\"853\" data-end=\"903\">Open to all children who meet the age requirement.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"904\" data-end=\"965\">\n<p data-start=\"906\" data-end=\"965\">To avail of ECCE Programme the child must be 3 on the 31st December the year they begin preschool.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"967\" data-end=\"1150\">For more information visit <a class=\"cursor-pointer\" target=\"_new\" rel=\"noopener\" data-start=\"1038\" data-end=\"1149\">gov.ie &#8211; ECCE Scheme<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text]<h4 class=\"sc_title sc_title_regular sc_align_left\" style=\"text-align:left;\"><\/p>\n<h3>Eligible age range<\/h3>\n<p><\/h4>[vc_column_text]To avail of the ECCE programme children must turn 3 by the 31st of December the year they begin preschool. (e.g. children born 31st December 2022 they are eligible from September 25)<\/p>\n<p>In some cases, children may qualify for an exemption from the standard ECCE age rules. This usually applies to children with additional needs who may benefit from delaying their start in primary school or extending their time in ECCE. Exemptions must be approved by the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth and are considered on a case-by-case basis, often with input from medical or educational professionals.
