Sessional Preschool Care
Our Sessional Preschool Room is all about encouraging independence, confidence, and a love for learning as children prepare for the next big step—starting school. Designed for children aged approximately 3 to 5 years, our environment is rich in learning opportunities while still being fun, nurturing, and child-led. Our sessional class runs from 8.45am to 11.45am, 38 weeks of the year.
We maintain a child-to-staff ratio of 1:11, ensuring that each child receives plenty of individual attention and support. Our qualified and experienced team works to create a balance between guided activities and free play, helping children to develop socially, emotionally, physically, and cognitively.
We continue to follow the Key Person Approach, meaning each child has a dedicated key worker who builds a close, supportive relationship with them. This helps children feel safe and confident to explore, ask questions, and express themselves.
Our daily routine includes a variety of play-based learning experiences across all areas of development. These include early literacy and numeracy, science and discovery, arts and crafts, role play, music and movement, and small and large group activities. All activities are tailored to children’s interests and developmental levels, in line with the Aistear curriculum framework. Children are encouraged to become more independent and we support children and help them learn how to share, take turns, and build strong friendships.
Our outdoor play area is an extension of the classroom, where children can run, climb, dig, ride bikes, and engage in nature-based learning. Outdoor play is a daily part of our routine, no matter the season.
We use the Child Paths app to keep parents connected throughout the day, sharing photos, updates, and observations about your child’s learning journey and milestones.
We understand that the preschool years are a crucial time for development, and we are committed to making these years happy, enriching, and full of positive memories. Our goal is to help every child feel confident and well-prepared for their transition into primary school—while still having plenty of fun along the way!
