At Frenchpark and Districts Childcare, we follow a play-based curriculum in line with Aistear, Ireland’s early childhood curriculum framework, where children learn through hands-on, meaningful play experiences that support their overall development, well-being, and love of learning.
At Frenchpark & District Childcare we believe that:
Children are competent learners.
Curriculum starts with children’s interests and strengths.
Curriculum is enriched by diversity and underpinned by equality.
Curriculum is collaboratively negotiated.

Frenchpark & District Childcare Ltd, Staff members are aware that the period from birth to six years is a time of life qualitatively different from early childhood and adulthood.
The period from birth to six years is critically important, as it is a time of rapid brain development when children build the foundation for lifelong learning, behaviour, and overall well-being. During these formative years, children acquire essential skills in communication, social interaction, emotional regulation, and physical development.
At Frenchpark and Districts Childcare Ltd (FDCL), we recognise the significance of this stage and are committed to providing a nurturing, inclusive, and holistic learning environment. Our dedicated staff engage in continuous professional development (CPD) to stay up to date with best practices, and we implement a child-centred, play-based curriculum that supports each child’s unique needs and abilities—laying the groundwork for confident, capable, and happy learners.

At FDCL we use a play based curriculum which encourages children to learn and develop through hands-on, meaningful play experiences. Rooted in their natural curiosity, play supports all areas of development while allowing children to explore, problem-solve, and express themselves. Through guided and free play, children build essential skills in a fun, engaging, and developmentally appropriate way.
Early Learning Framework
Ireland’s Early Learning Framework is guided by Aistear, the national curriculum framework for children from birth to six years. Aistear focuses on four key themes—Well-being, Identity and Belonging, Communicating, and Exploring and Thinking—and promotes a play-based, child-led approach to learning. It supports the holistic development of each child by recognising their strengths, interests, and individuality, while also encouraging strong partnerships with parents and families in early learning. This is something we follow and value at FDCL.
